Job Description

Histopath Diagnostic Specialists is seeking an experienced Senior Complex Grossing Technician to join our Histology department. This role is central to the accurate and efficient handling of complex specimens and requires a high level of technical expertise, precision, and adherence to established protocols and RCPA cut-up guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform gross examination and dissection of complex surgical specimens in strict accordance with RCPA guidelines and laboratory protocols.

  • Accurately verify specimen reception details, clinical notes, and documentation, ensuring complete and reliable records.

  • Prepare and perform frozen sections, including participation in offsite procedures, liaising directly with pathologists to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

  • Ensure timely and precise specimen processing, including operating and troubleshooting tissue processors as required.

  • Collaborate closely with pathologists, scientific staff, and technicians to maintain the highest quality standards and patient outcomes.

Desired Skills and Experience

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant demonstrated experience in complex grossing of surgical specimens within a diagnostic histology environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of RCPA cut-up guidelines and high-volume laboratory operations.

  • Proven ability to work independently with accuracy, detail, and efficiency.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in dictating macroscopic descriptions and maintaining clinical documentation.

  • Flexibility to work full-time Monday-Friday, with flexibility to work weekends as required by the business 

  • A professional, detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
